Tea Grade: Organic English Afternoon Tea
Organic English Afternoon Tea is a great medium strength black tea blend of Acril Tea. Therefore, we use several types of tea grades from different tea growing areas in Sri Lanka.
This tea gives a delightful and bright liquor with a medium strength body in the teacup.
At Acril Tea, we supply certified Organic tea (USDA, EU, and JAS), as well as conventional tea in Sri Lanka.
What is the English Afternoon tea?
Most people refer to English afternoon tea as High tea or meat tea because we use it in the evening or after dinner.
History of English Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea introduced in England by Anna, in the year 1840. The Duchess would become hungry around 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
The evening meal in her household served fashionably late at eight o’clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner.
The Duchess asked that a tray of tea, bread, and butter and cake be brought to her room during the late afternoon. This became a habit of hers and she began inviting friends to join her every day.
This pause for tea became a fashionable social event. During the 1880’s upper-class and society women would change into long gowns, gloves, and hats for their afternoon tea.
